Introduction to Disability, Equality and Awareness

A practical course aimed at front line staff focusing on five main areas of disability – deaf, blind, learning difficulty, mental illness and physical disability

Our most popular workshop for front line staff, this one day course is led by disabled tutors. It aims to answer the two questions people want to ask about disability issues:

  • How might I know a person has a disability? i.e. identifying specific disabilities
  • How do I enable disabled people to access my services? i.e. encouraging a ‘can-do’ approach

The workshop also aims to:

  • Explore five areas of disability – i.e. blind and partial sight, learning difficulties/disabilities, deaf issues, mental illness and mobility.
  • Encourage participants to recognise barriers towards disabled people that exist in their organisation and working practices, and to look for ways to remove them
  • Introduce good manners and best practice to ensure an equal service is provided for disabled people
  • Help organisations comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 amended

Can’t come? – Why not book us to deliver this course direct to your Organisation.
