The Archives Task Force has proposed the creation of a single Archives Gateway which will “create easy access for all to a treasure house of knowledge”. A number of archives are already providing access to collections through a variety of mechanisms. In particular we have supported a number of regional Access to Archives (A2A) projects to convert hard copy archival catalogues to digital format and provide on-line access. These projects have been supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the results are available on www.a2a.org.uk.
