Public Libraries

MLA North West works with public libraries to implement the government’s national strategy for public libraries, Framework for the Future, published by the Department of Culture Media and Sport in 2003.

Key current projects include:

  • supporting the North West reader development group, Time To Read
  • working to encourage access to all types of library with the Inspire England project
  • helping libraries improve their services to children and young people through projects such as Their Reading Futures and Fulfilling Their Potential
  • supporting development of services to learners with adult basic skills needs through The Vital Link.
