MLA North West Welcomes New Staff

14 July 2006

These three posts are supporting the implementation of a North West Renaissance in the Regions Collections for the Future strategy which aims to develop innovative models for collections development and organisational change. The programme will support museums to further strengthen their work in community engagement and diversity and also provide museums’ staff with opportunities to boost their skills and network more effectively. This work is being developed in partnership with the North West Hub and with the wider regional museum community as part of a collective regional Renaissance in the Regions plan. We are also working in close liaison with the Museums Association.

Erica and Catriona’s posts are directly funded by Renaissance in the Regions. They will work closely with museum staff across the region to help coordinate and implement the North West Collections for the Future programme. They will also provide museums with general support and signposting to a broad range of advice and information, including funding, forward planning, ethics, workforce development, tourism and marketing.

Paul will help to co-ordinate, implement and assess the Museums Accreditation Scheme in the North West. Renaissance in the Regions is contributing to this post by providing a budget to provide greater professional and peer advice for museums as they go through the Accreditation process. His aim is to improve standards of stewardship across the region through the development of support networks for museum staff and promotion of best practice.
