The Art Fund Prize

The Museum Prize Trust has announced details of this year’s greatest museum prize – now The Art Fund Prize for museums and galleries (formerly the Gulbenkian Prize). £100,000 will be awarded to the museum or gallery for a project completed in 2007. A longlist of ten museums and galleries will be announced in late January, going down to a short list of four in March.


The award will be presented during Museums and Galleries Month 2008. The winner in May this year was Pallant House Gallery in Chichester which, like previous winners, saw visitor figures increase dramatically following the announcement.


The Art Fund Prize is open to all Registered/Accredited museums and galleries, and projects based on all kinds of collections.


Sue MacGregor CBE, well-known broadcaster, will chair the panel of judges. closing date for applications is 2nd November 2008. More information at www.artfundprize.org.uk
