MLA North West is co-ordinating this year’s One Small Step Adult Learners’ Week Awards - and the hunt is on for the North West’s most inspiring adult learners.
Organisations and individuals can nominate family members, friends or colleagues for any one of several awards that aim to highlight and celebrate adult learning. There are special awards for NHS learners, basic skills students, over 50s learners, and anyone learning with the support of regional museums, libraries and archives.
There are also awards for organisations and volunteers who enrich the experience of learners, by providing information, advice and support - in other words, the people who help make learning happen.
The awards are open to anyone from the North West, aged over 19, who has been involved in formal or informal learning - either for personal, professional or academic development - during the past 12 months.
THE CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS IS APRIL 22, 2005.
How to nominate someone for a One Small Step Adult Learners’ Award
Nominating someone you know for an award is easy - just download the nomination form from the ‘related documents’ section of this page.
To encourage the widest possible range of nominations, there are a number of forms. Some nominees may fall into more than one nomination category - and if that’s the case, you should choose the category or context for learning that feels the most appropriate.
Nomination Categories:
If you wish to nominate an individual who has been learning in any context in a library, museum or archive setting then you should complete the MLA North West Individual Award Nomination Form. Similarly if you wish to draw attention to any project which has occurred either wholly or in partnership with museums, libraries or archives, then complete the MLA North West Project Nomination Form.
If you want to nominate an individual , over 19, who may doesn’t meet the requirement above but has been involved in either informal or formal learning, in any setting (other than that described in category 1) you should complete the Adult Learners Week Individual Award Nomination Form
