The Whitworth Art Gallery and Shell win BRAVO! Award
16 May 2005
The evening of Monday 18th April saw a whole host of regional arts and business partnerships rewarded at the BRAVO! Awards for Business and Culture. The event, held at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool was a new initiative and joint partnership between Arts & Business and Business in the Arts and was sponsored by The Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA).
The Bravo! Awards have been designed to recognise the best partnerships and provide a region-wide platform to promote the benefits of business support for the arts and each organisation made three presentations. The winner in each category received a specially commissioned piece of artwork by Southport textile fine artist Patricia Greaves.
The Employee Engagement Partnership, sponsored by Rolls-Royce plc and Tate Liverpool, went to Shell for its work with The Whitworth Art Gallery at The University of Manchester for the development of Arts@Work – a year long programme which offered a series of lunchtime curators’ talks and film screenings in the workplace as well as weekend tours, creative activities and a number of visits to galleries across the North West.
Paul Smith, regional director Arts & Business said: “The event was a memorable occasion, celebrating some excellent partnerships which clearly demonstrate the mutual benefits to be gained from arts and business working together”.
The Whitworth/Shell partnership continues throughout 2005/6. For more information contact:
