		MLA looks for excellence in the public libraries of England 02 March 2007 A consultation document A Blueprint for Excellence – Public Libraries 2008–2011, has been published by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) on behalf of the MLA Partnership. The MLA is supporting and challenging local councils to develop a modernised service.


		Briefing: Culture, Creativity and Extended Services In and Around Schools 26 February 2007 MLA North West, Arts Council England North West and the NW Museums Hub have produced a briefing on the contribution the cultural and creative sector can make to extended services in and around schools.


		Jodi Awards 2007 – Call for nominations 02 February 2007 Nominations are now being sought for the Jodi Awards 2007. The awards previously recognised excellence in museum, library and archive website accessibility – but this year, for the first time, the awards will include any project that uses technology to provide access to collections for disabled people.

		Statutory Guidance on Section 6 Education & Inspections Act 2006 (Positive Activities for Young People) 19 June 2007 The DfES has launched a consultation on the above, beginning 5th January 2007 and closing on 30th March 2007. This legislation, part of the Youth Matters reforms, requires local authorities to take a strategic and coordinated approach to providing activities for young people, of which a major element is cultural activities. This is to ensure that issues around young people’s participation in activities are addressed, such as access, cost, availability & sufficiency, local need, quality and young people’s involvement in the planning, design and review of services. The main target group is young people aged 13-19, but this may be wider depending on local circumstances and need.


		An evaluation of the impact of the NW Museum Hub’s Primary Consultant (Museums and Galleries) with Manchester Education Partnership 22 November 2006 The Touring Exhibitions Group calls for consultation on the shape of, potential for, and barriers to touring exhibitions in the UK. 		Setting The Pace - MLA 2012 Prospectus 16 October 2006 MLA Partnership Vision: Museums, libraries and archives will ensure that the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games are an inclusive event. We will champion the development of collections, audiences and workforce so that the 2012 games will be a transformational event for the sector and the country.
