Young people

Young people have been identified as an under-represented audience for museums, libraries and archives. Two projects undertaken by MLA North West to date are:

  • Into the Net - a demonstration project involving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the development of online digitised resources. The project was coordinated by MLA North West in partnership with the National Football Museum and the North West Foyer Federation. Into the Net is now an online, interactive catalogue, with associated games and learning journeys designed especially for young people.
  • Museum Fever - a pilot project for disadvantaged young people, undertaken in partnership with Salford Museum and Salford Foyer. This project has acted as a catalyst for the development of partnership projects between museums and young people across the UK. An evaluation report has been produced, which contrasts Museum Fever and Represent, a project involving young people in Birmingham.
